Post-treatment Procedure – When the plating process is completed, the parts are ready for post-treatment.The current flows from the cathode back to the anode to complete the circuit. The zinc ions are then deposited onto the surface. A DC current originating at the anode is introduced into the bath, flowing to the substrate. With zinc plating, the substrate serves as the cathode. Electrical current is applied – An electrical current is used to deposit metal ions onto the surface of the substrate.(Albers Finishing & Solutions will be adding barrel plating soon.) Barrel plating is normally used for smaller parts they are placed inside a barrel and rotated, providing a more uniform finish. It may be rack plating for larger parts, where parts are affixed to metal racks and placed inside the tank containing the plating bath and remain stationary or barrel plating. Zinc plating procedures: After solution preparation, the appropriate method is chosen for plating.Acid zinc – A widely used plating technology known for its efficiency with fast deposition and superior covering power.There are specific types of zinc electrolyte solutions. It consists of the zinc metal ionic solution and various chemicals that facilitate plating processes and help produce the desired chemical and physical properties of the finished product. Plating solution is prepared: The substrate requires immersion into a specially formulated electrolyte solution referred to as the plating bath.Alkaline detergent solution is used for cleaning, followed by an acid treatment to remove any surface rust (referred to as pickling). ![]() Debris and contaminants remaining on the surface will prevent proper adhesion of the zinc coating. ![]() Preparation and surface cleaning: The substrate must be thoroughly prepped by cleaning the surface prior to plating.Mix 1 Gallon of Behr Silver Screen/ Flat, Matte Paint #1050 , 1 Quart of Behr Black Matte – #1300 and a sample bottle of Dark Pewter/ Semi Gloss – #5400Typically, this is how a zinc-plating process works: How to upgrade your screen wall using DIY screen paint So we had to paint them carefully without messing up the screen area. It’s a good idea to paint the 1x4s before fixing them to the wall but we missed that step. Step 8: Finished the frame using wood filler and sand wherever necessary. In case you have an outlet that you want to use, you can easily move it. As you can see, we were able to hide the outlet behind the frame. We chiseled the 1×4 using a handsaw and a chisel to fit the outlet. We had a closed outlet where the frame is supposed to go. Step 7: Then we nailed them to the wall on all 4 sides of the screen and screwed them in places where found the studs. Step 6: We cut the 1x4s at 45 degrees on either side. Align the 1×4 with the edge of the screen and mark where you want to make the cuts. Turn on the projector again and measure the width and length of the screen. Step 5: I got 1x4s to make a frame around the screen. You can find a detailed blog on that here Before that, I painted the remaining wall with the limewash to match the other walls in the room. I had to roll again in a few areas because of the roller marks. Step 3: Once the paint is dry, turn on the projector and check if you see any uneven patches. Try to avoid the roller marks as much as possible. It might take up to 3 or 4 coats to achieve a uniform look. ![]() Then, roll the paint in the screen area carefully.
